Our 2011
registered Jacob lamb crop is about to “hit the
ground”. Stay tuned here as wean our new lambs and
put together our 2011 For Sale list. Folks have
many reasons for their interest in Jacob sheep.
They may wish to introduce new genes into their
established flock or establish a new flock
altogether. They may only want a couple of ewes to
provide fleece for themselves and their friends. I
know some want Jacobs as moving yard ornaments or
automatic lawnmowers. Others have inquired about
weaned lambs that they could raise for meat for
their personal use. Whatever the need, we believe
we will have the lambs to fill it. Many of our new
lambs express the breed standard very well and
would make great breeding stock. Others lack what
we think is championship (or show) configuration
desired by pure-bred breeders but appear to have
great fleece. And conversely, I predict a couple
will be magnificent to look at in the pasture but
may not have the best fleece. Finally, we’ll have a
couple of Blue-faced Leicester / Jacob crosses that
result in more meat yield
and will have a
very interesting black fleece.
Contact us with your needs and we’ll see if we have an animal for you here at Drumcliffe, or we’d be happy to recommend another breeder.
